If you are eligible for the Motability Scheme, you can exchange your qualifying mobility allowance for one of our selected mobility scooters or powered wheelchairs.

How does the Motability Scheme work?
The Motability initiative is designed to improve the quality of life and independence of people with disabilities, particularly those who find it difficult to walk or stand for long periods. Under the scheme, you have the option of a powerchair or mobility scooter.

Type of Mobility Scooters
A mobility scooter is probably the right choice for you if you can travel relatively independently, get on and off the scooter on your own, and are able to use a bicycle-style steering column or tiller. Disability scooters usually come in three different sizes – small, medium and large. It’s important that you choose the mobility scooter most appropriate to your needs and lifestyle.

The Motability initiative is designed to improve the quality of life and independence of people with disabilities, particularly those who find it difficult to walk or stand for long periods it gives you the option of a powerchair or mobility scooter.
PIP
It's to help with the extra costs of living with a long-term health condition or disability. It is not means-tested or affected by earnings or savings.

As part of the worry-free package provided by Motability Scheme, you are covered in case of a breakdown. You can either report it online, or by calling your local Modern Mobility store.

If you are eligible for the Scheme, all you need to do is contact us. We are a Motability Partner and one of our specialists will arrange for an assessment to take place (this could be at home or in-store). You will get the chance to test some of the products to find which one you prefer and then one of our Motability Scheme specialists will guide you through the application process.
Currently, it is not possible to lease a car AND a scooter or powered wheelchair, because customers are unable to have more than one lease agreement on the Motability Scheme at one time.

How to Get on the Motability…

Register Online
Register
As long as you receive a qualifying mobility allowance with at least 12 months left you can register online or speak to one of our Motability experts in-store or over the phone.
Consultation
Once you have registered your interest in joining the Motability Scheme our experts will discuss your options and what your requirments are.
Demonstration
Once we understand what your requirements are we will organise a time and location suitable for you to test drive some of the products that will be suitable for you.
Choose your product
After test driving and learning how to use the scooter or chair you can pick what one you would want and we then take care of the rest.
Let us take care of the rest
After you have chosen what vehicle you want we will make the order, organise all the insurance and warranties, and lastly, we will deliver it to your home. Once you’re happy with it, you can start enjoying your vehicle.
